Cloudy Day

We are learning about spring this month and living in Seattle, that includes a number of cloudy days. So today we created a cloudy day! I cut out the suns. The kids glued the sun on their paper. Then they glued
down cotton balls as clouds.

I'm bringing home a baby bumblebee..

Bzzzzzz...My toddlers loved this craft! We cut out all the individual pieces (body, head, wings, stripes). The kids glued them all together. We didn't tell them how to put the stripes, as you can probably tell! For the most part, it turned out great!

Coffee Filter Flower

This is a super easy craft to do with preschoolers and toddlers. You take a coffee filter and have the kids color it with markers. The more scribbling and darker the marks, the better!

Then spray the paper once or twice and hang it up to dry.

During nap time I cut two pieces of pipe cleaner. Poke a hole through the center of the coffee filter with one pipe cleaner and make a knot. Then fold the filter around into a flower-ish shape and use the second pipe cleaner to hold it into place. Below is what the final product looks like. Great for a spring craft or mother's day present!

A Person's a person, No matter how small!

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind!

So this summer Tia and I decided to do weekly themes. This week we did Dr. Seuss! When I was doing my planning, I had a difficult time coming up with crafts easy enough (but creative enough) to do with my three year olds. I also had problems planning what to put in the sensory table and the dramatic play area. Soooooo after lots of ingenuity and effort I came up with a Seussville, if you will, for the sensory table.

It took  few days to build but after it was done, it looked like this.

The kids were actually very fragile with the setting. They were interested by the truffula trees and broke those a couple times!

We also created the Lorax, One Fish Two Fish, Red Fish Blue Fish, and Thing 1 and Thing 2.

 Tia's project!

For the dramatic play area we put out dress up costumes to be crazy characters and I made Lorax mustaches.

We also made available numerous Dr. Seuss books to read out loud during lunch and for the kids to look at. We listened to Green Eggs and Ham at lunch every day as well.

Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.
